Jewelry Hanger

I have been wanting to make a hanging jewelry organizer for awhile now, but just can commit to the style or to where I would put it. Do you put it in the main part of your bedroom for all to see (or all who actually go in your bedroom)? Or in your closet? Or bathroom? I think it depends on what it looks like and if you decide it's part of your decor, or simply a method to organization and not something to show off. Hmmm...I'm stumped.

In the meantime, here are some ideas and inspiration I have gathered. Any weigh-in from the peanut-gallery (eh-hem...you) would be GREATLY appreciated.

On hello beauty! she did an elegant DIY jewelry organizer that is simple and classy.

Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy's old frame jewelry hanger that I L-O-V-E (pretty much just love her style in general and want to make our home look like hers. period.) I mean look at her bedroom! And her kitchen/family room/eating space. After reading this post of hers I emailed it to Matt and said "in case you are wondering what I want our house to look like, here is a spot-on interior design."

My friend Stephanie made this when we had a craft date last year. Old frame, fabric-covered cardboard with ribbon stapled across...and voila!

And then there's a more simple approach like on The Creative Mama. I like the rustic element of the hooks:

I like the look of an old LARGE frame with texture, like Curbly did here. The headbands at the bottom is a major bonus, wouldn't you say?

Or a series with hooks at the bottom like Courtney at Red Heads Craft More Fun created:

Ooooh the decisions.
Our bedroom colors are navy, lime green and silver. I have a place above my jewelry cabinet I could hang this, a wall in the back of our closet that would be easy to access, and some space on one of the bathroom walls, I suppose. So where do I put it? Where is yours if you have one?

Ready...go! Help a sista out.

  1. Mine is in the closet, don't want everyone to see my accessories if they come into see the house, and everyone sees the bedroom since they get the guided tour being a new house and all when they come to visit. I like your style depends on what you have, do you have long necklaces, lots of them, more earrings, etc.? The beauty is you can make it to match your gooides :) Good luck!

  2. It's like you're my craft twin!! I've been drafting ideas for a jewelry board for about 6 months now. I'm leaning towards gold or silver leafing a frame of some sort and using a solid velvet fabric background....solid so the jewelry is the focal point vs the fabric.

In other news, I'm stumped on how to jazz up my plain shower curtain. Let me know if you have any crafty ideas. :)

  3. I'm a hook fan. Though the frame does make it look more like a piece of art...guess it depends the look you are going for. Do you want to "showcase" your jewels or simple organize them...

    All good options, really.
